HAREN reduces hierarchy to bodies, gestures and ceremonial objects. Female figures occupy the visual centre while male attendants become witnesses, servants, participants and structural elements inside each scene.
Collection Statement
The veil is not the subject. The system that made refusal unthinkable is.
The figures exist against fields of saturated colour, isolated from history and geography. What remains is choreography: standing and kneeling, serving and receiving, watching and being watched.
