RELIQUARIA

Anatomies of the Unseen

The body is not a boundary. It is a reliquary.

Collection Statement

Bodies as vessels for realities that cannot be seen directly.

RELIQUARIA imagines bodies as vessels for realities that cannot be seen directly.

Bone, membrane, animal, architecture and celestial matter merge into ceremonial anatomies whose interiors contain other states of existence.

Within them appear fragments of life and death, memory and transformation, earthly creatures and impossible cosmologies. What resembles an organism may also be a sanctuary, a passage, a vessel or a map.

These forms do not belong entirely to the living or the inanimate, the earthly or the celestial. They exist at the threshold between states, preserving what cannot remain visible and revealing what cannot fully be understood.

These beings do not inhabit another world. The other world inhabits them.
